WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
THE VISION news article
"Nikki and Robert Cheslin have always had a heart and passion for helping people. For many years the couple have been a familiar sight around Beenleigh where they have helped countless people and their families.
With more than 15 years experience working with other organisations helping the homeless and destitute, Nikki has realised that the biggest need has been in her own community. With very little assistance available, Nikki and her husband Rob set out to actively do something to meet this need, so they started a street van where they helped people by patrolling the streets at night. It was through this street van that On The Edge was founded.
Since 2001 On The Edge, which is a not-for-profit registered charity, has helped thousands of people and has evolved significantly to respond to the growing needs of the community.
With a team of more than 30 volunteers, On The Edge now offers several programs including school breakfasts, free counselling, support groups, anger and relationship courses, youth and senior support, mentoring programs for young people, emergency food assistance, Friday night street van, and supervised drug and alcohol free activities. All programs are run free of charge and are generally run throughout the day, with some run before and after working hours, as this is when people are in the most need." - BeenleighAlive
